The 7th Chakra or crown chakra is located at the very top of the head. It is the chakra that gives us access to higher consciousness helps us align ourselves with the will of the universe. It is most often represented by a circle surrounded by petals which is appropriate as the sanskrit name for the crown chakra is Sahasrara which means ‘thousand petals’. This chakra is depicted by the color white or as a deep purple. Sahasrara is associated with the pituitary gland and hypothalamus, the brain and the nervous system; because both the crown and root chakra’s sit at the ends of the system, they are connected and somewhat serve as the energy caps, keeping your chakra energy flowing throughout your core.  Read more about the rest of the Chakras here:  https://astronlogia.com/new-age/seven-chakras/

Crown Chakra – The Seventh Chakra

Balancing the Crown Chakra

When your crown chakra is balanced you will feel a higher consciousness, a greater sense of wisdom, a sense that you can see beyond the world into what is non-physical. When the 7th chakra is aligned we feel at peace with the world and the universe, some even describe the feeling as transcendent. However, when the chakra is closed and there is an imbalance you may feel incredibly cynicism, a sense of frequent disconnect from the world and your body, you’ll be close-minded and you may even develop some psychological problems or neurological diseases.

Meditation

Meditation is essential to keeping the crown chakra open and balanced. Focus your attention on the crown and visualize the color violet. Work to connect with the universe, thanking it for all the blessings it has given you. Repeat an affirming statement such as, “I am part of the Divine and I honor the Divine within me.” or “I am grateful for all that is good in my life and I know that all is well in my world.” These statements help to reconnect your mind with the higher powers of the universe, understanding that even in hard times there are good things to come. Gratitude and contentment are key to keeping this chakra balanced so meditation must include them. Surround yourself with crystals like amethyst or quartz as they help to improve energy positivity and healing and use incense with lotus essence to improve the quality and success of your meditation.

If you prefer to use yoga, use inverted yoga asanas; most recommended are headstand, down dog, and fish pose but any movement that brings the crown of the head to the floor and improves blood flow is good.

In general, you should try to avoid being egotistical as this can close the chakra or imbalance it. Egotism is different than self-confidence and should be avoided as it is rooted in fear rather than knowledge. Work on trying to love yourself and those around you. Understand that only when you are able to love and accept yourself can you truly love and accept others and this is one of the keys to maintaining 7th chakra health. Lastly, don’t be afraid to include a moment of prayer throughout your day. Prayer is not always religious and needs only to be a brief moment of meditation and affirmation that helps to re-center your mind and clear negativity from your body.
